PREVIEW: Round 1 vs New Farm

New head coach, Roger Hunter, has confidence in his side ahead of Sunday Afternoon's Vilic Law Capital League 1 season opener away to New Farm United.

The Hawks go into Sunday’s match looking to get the ball rolling in their campaign to return to the prestigious Brisbane Premier League. After a midweek departure of a long term Hawks junior, it is a new look side for the green and gold, with only three returning players from last season’s squad.

After a positive start to preseason, getting results against Grange Thistle, Musgrave and Logan Roos both sides have endured a drop in form. On the back of three straight losses the Hawks are looking to find their original form and bring home three points to Dittmer Park.

The last time these teams met was all the way back in 2015, in a midweek FFA Cup qualifier hosted by Hawks. The hosts ran out 4-2 winners and will be looking for a similar result on Sunday afternoon. It is a good opportunity for the new players to earn their stripes with the Hawks followers and get the club off on the right foot as they look to rebuild after two unfortunate seasons.

Hawks President, Mark Brittain commented,"it's a no-brainer that after past results, our fans will be wanting a win this weekend."

Fan prediction: Hawks to win 1-0
