Mt Gravatt Hawks is pleased to announced the launch of it's new Female Football Program. As part of the club's strategic planning, it identified a gap in Community Based Female Football programs with most programs concentrating on elite football leaving a chasm for developing players to have access to pathways for female football.
Over the past few years Hawks has been laying the foundation for increasing female participation, firstly through the hugely popular FREE Girls Development Program and this season with the launch of the Girls Only Fledgling program for 5- 7 years olds and the fielding of U9 and U11 Girls Only teams.
With the FIFA Women's World Cup to be hosted in Australia in 2023, the female game is about to undergo a major transformation as more girls aspire to play football. Hawks FC program is specifically targeting grass roots and community level football with a focus on developing female players.
Hawks FC will be investing in the Female Football Program and part of the financial commitment is that all income derived from the Female Football Program will remain within the program, therefore parents and players can be confident that funds from female football are being reinvested back into their program.
To launch the program we are pleased to announce that Kymberley Hyde will continue in her role as Female Football Ambassador after an amazing season working with our Junior Girls.
After our Girls Only Fledglings breakup on Saturday, Kymberley said, "I was honoured earlier this year to be asked to be the Female Football Ambassador for Hawks and it's been an amazing season with the girls, we've had so much fun and it's been great watching the girls develop and I'm grateful for the support and commitment the club is giving the girls program".
We have also announced the appointment of Jake Heveldt Knight as our first Female Football Manager who will be responsible for overseeing Female Football from our Fledglings through to Senior Women. A dedicated Board position has also been established in the Club's Management Committee to ensure that there is adequate representation of the Female Program.
"I'm excited to be joining Hawks FC . They have outlined a vision and a plan which not only addresses the chasm in community level female football, but also demonstrates a true investment in the female game. The opportunity to help drive this project was too good to refuse and one that mirrors my passion for the game" said Heveldt Knight.
Our first major initiative will be to establish a Female Football Centre of Excellence that will provided player development opportunities for developing players and of course a big part of the Hawks' philosophy is inclusion and programs will be offered to all players.
In 2021 Hawks FC provide playing opportunities for players in all age groups including Fledglings (5-7 years), U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16 Junior Girls as well as Capital League and Reserves and City League teams.
